Amanda Hopkins Tirrell, MBA, FACHE

President and Founder

Amanda Hopkins Tirrell is a senior health care executive with 30 years of experience in multiple industry segments including academic medical centers, physician practice management, investor-owned health care systems, and consulting. An energetic change agent with a reliable track record in transformation, clinical strategic planning, operations management, and establishing a culture of patient service excellence, Ms. Hopkins Tirrell is a knowledgeable advisor and mediator skilled in developing collaborative alliances and partnerships with physicians, hospitals, community organizations, and other key stakeholders.

Founding Hopkins Tirrell & Associates, LLC

In 2017, Ms. Hopkins Tirrell founded Hopkins Tirrell & Associates, LLC, an interim healthcare executive leadership, strategic operations transformation and business advisory practice offering strategic solutions for change and practice tools to improve performance. Advisory services to health systems, academic medical centers and physician practices include clinical strategic planning, stakeholder engagement strategy, patient access redesign, digital patient experience transformation and behavioral health management solutions.

Most recently, Ms. Hopkins Tirrell was engaged as a Technology Strategy Advisor for Mass General Brigham. As a member of the CIDO’s transformation team with a focus on senior stakeholder engagement and digital patient experience transformation, Ms. Hopkins Tirrell delivered the digital patient experience strategic plan and roadmap, and governance strategy and implementation plan. Other notable clients include Berkshire Health Systems, University of Vermont Health Network Medical Group, and Phoebe Health System & Phoebe Physician Practice Group.

30 years of health care management

Prior to founding Hopkins Tirrell & Associates, Ms. Hopkins Tirrell served as Chief Operating Officer for Augusta University Medical Associates where she led business and clinical operations for the Medical College of Georgia’s faculty practice and AU Medical Center’s ambulatory care services operations. As AUMA COO, she rebuilt revenue cycle management operations, prioritized patient access services improvements, and spearheaded value-based care transformation strategy to include PCMH expansion and advanced practice provider integration.

Prior to joining the AU Medical Associates, Ms. Hopkins Tirrell led UConn Medical Group as its COO where she provided strategic and operational leadership to the region’s largest multi-specialty faculty group practice and guided numerous clinical, operational and service excellence transformation initiatives. As chair of the health system’s ambulatory care center building committee, Ms. Hopkins Tirrell engaged physicians, clinicians and other key stakeholders to successfully steer the clinical design development of the Health Center’s 300,000 square foot $200M building project.

Ms. Hopkins Tirrell served as Vice President for Baystate Health, the leading regional health system and academic medical center in Springfield, Massachusetts where she provided strategic transformation and operational leadership to the health system’s neurosciences, behavioral health, rehabilitation and cancer care service lines, programs and medical practice operations. She has also served as CEO of several behavioral health specialty hospitals across the country and led their turnarounds focusing on clinical quality, patient safety and service, as well as financial and operational performance improvement.

Education

Ms. Hopkins Tirrell holds an MBA in health care management from the Wharton School and is a Fellow in the American College of Health Care Executives.
